We are looking for Senior Piping Layout Engineer for our In-house role to be based in UAE.

Position: Permanent

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Primary objective

The Senior Piping Layout Engineer will be reporting to the Piping Lead Engineer and shall be responsible for assuring the delivery of the complete Piping, Layout and Drafting package(s) for any project under execution.

The Senior Piping/Layout Engineer will be assigned responsibility for the supervision and/or preparation of engineering in the following aspects: 3D Modelling, Piping Design/Support/Stress and Drafting. Supporting and reviewing the Mechanical Equipment, Rotating Equipment, Valves and Structural designs and interfaces.

The Senior Piping/Layout Engineer is responsible for reviewing the outputs of the design and drafting team. He/she will ensure the engineered product provides a cost effective and high quality solution with an ability to understand and define customer requirements. The Senior Piping Layout Engineer will be involved in client facing meetings.

Specific Accountabilities

· Participating in system design and specification development sessions.

· Review PFDs and P&ID’s from piping detail perspectives and to give input.

· Participating in site visits and data collection

· Checking of input, raising technical queries, request for information.

· Planning the piping layout and per safety & design requirements,

· Prepare 3D models of process modules and piping layouts.

· Provide interface mechanical data for input to datasheets as required.

· Participate in HAZOP’s

· Coordination with Piping stress engineering and implementation of stress recommendations.

· Coordination with Process and Structural engineering team.

· Maintaining design integrity and quality within the asset team.

· Promoting health, safety and environmental awareness. Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the BU

Essential Skills/Experience

· Anticipated a minimum of 7 years + experience in Piping Stress Engineering.

· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent to qualify for corporate membership of IE Aust.

· A background / knowledge in piping layouts and piping design procedures.

· Knowledge of Industry Piping Codes.

· Experience in piping engineering including pipe wall thickness calculations, branch connection reinforcement check and equipment nozzle load calculations.

· Exposure to piping stress analysis using CAESAR II and manual calculation methods, pipe support selection and design input.

· Good hand sketching skills.

· Exposure to use of design software like AutoCAD / Microstation.

· Exposure to use of 3D modelling packages like PDMS/SP3D.

· Overall idea of pipe flexibility, stress analysis.

· Proficiency in Microsoft office suites.

· Understanding of planning and scheduling.

· Substantial experience in the Oil & Gas industry and/or Petrochemical Industry.

· Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrated performance as a team leader is preferred.

· Dynamic and enthusiastic approach is essential
