Job Description

WorleyParsons Improve is a core service for brownfield operations focused on the delivery of major projects, upgrades, debottlenecking, project portfolio management and support services to sustain our customer’s assets and improve business performance.

We are currently sourcing a Lead Piping Engineer to join the North West Office on a Staff or Agency hire basis; staff preferred.

As part of a long term alliance with a major Oil & Gas client based in Kuwait we are undertaking major revamp and modification/upgrade projects to help modernize the client’s Main Gathering Center located at Wafra, Kuwait with many sub-centers throughout the three main oil fields that require modifications and further expansion.

The candidate will be a Lead Piping Engineer with a proven track record in brownfield onshore oil and gas development projects to help support and grow a UK based project engineering design team that will execute FEED and detailed design projects as part of the overall modernisation project. We also handle most innovative projects involving Concept/ FEED studies, EPC Detailed Design Projects and Process Safety and Risk management as part of the overall project scope of works.

Good communication and presentation skills are essential.  Some travel to Kuwait may be required.

The individual will be able to perform all stages of project Piping engineering including being able to manage the engineering design team.  

Core Responsibilities:

  • To undertake Piping engineering design work in with true regard to Safety both in design detail and engineering design execution
  • To carry out design work in compliance with the national, state and client asset Codes & Standards.
  • To engineer all design work in line with the QA manual and Worley Parsons’ procedures.
  • To be innovative in design work with due regard to minimisation of cost whilst maintaining technical integrity
  • To undertake all work within the estimated man hour budget and within schedule
  • To assist in the recruitment and development of Engineers & Senior Engineers.
  • To keep all project documentation in a state of readiness for Audit purposes

Specific Accountabilities:

  • To provide definition of the Piping engineering work in the Project, design approach or criteria by skill and experience as directed by the Chief Engineer / Technical Manager
  • To clearly understand the Codes and Standards applicable to the work carried out and raise deviations where necessary
  • Prior to commencement of any Piping work, a scope of work (SoW) must be written and agreed with the Client / Project Team (or designated representative). The SoW must clearly state the workscope, manhour budget and schedule to complete the work
  • Estimate manhours for any job using the current manhour norms
  • Responsible for maintaining work progress (budget, schedule) and raising change documentation where necessary.
  • Supervision of technical detail, budget and schedule of engineering design in Project.
  • Liaison with client, vendors and outside parties in a professional manner
  • Where requested to undertake technical focal point duties
  • To plan manhour budgets and schedules for all Projects within the focal point area of responsibility.
  • To manage all resources allocated to the focal point area of responsibility (both technically and by discipline specific project controls)
  • To liaise with the equivalent client focal point on technical and engineering matters on a regular basis
  • Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Project.
  • Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Project. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.

Job Requirements

Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Chartered Engineer

Significant experience in Oil & Gas brownfield FEED, EPC Design Projects.

Proven track record engineering design.

Excellent technical communication and coordination skills.

Lead experience or capability of leading a engineer team intermediate to senior professionals
