Job Description
Function as the project CAD coordinator in the Design office.
Applications include PDS, SP3D, MicroStation, ProjectWise.
Leads & directs project designers in the use of automation tools and processes.
Develops and coordinates the implementation of the tools with other coordinators in the other workshare offices.
Has past experience in writing comprehensive CAD procedures and day-to-day work instructions.
Provides comprehensive CAD support, identifies & implements technical & automation improvements to the work process to produce top quality engineering deliverables.
Implements ProjectWise/MicroStation 2D CAD management software & trains project personnel in its use.
Implements the use of SmartPlant review for collaboration of design reviews between offices.
Lead the effort on day-to-day problem solving with regard to component placement errors, piping specification errors / additions, isometric extraction, etc.
Run daily 3D CAD clash reports.
Extract piping isometrics & material reports.
Monitor daily model/drawing workshare transfers between offices.
Process & implement non-standard requests according to global/regional automation policies & procedures.
Knows applicable industry standards and codes, accepted design practices and quality standards.
Assists in the preparation of plans and coordinates the assigned work to meet the project schedules.
Requires a knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, 2-D and 3-D CAD, reading of drawings and reproduction methods.
Resolves customer service issues in a timely manner to support project schedule.
Candidate must have expertise with Microstation, PDS & ideally ProjectWise/MicroStation software programs, have excellent verbal & written communication skills.
Working knowledge of Bechtel OG&C GBU work processes, BSAP’s and automation integration schemes is desirable.
Monitors all PDS applications for compliance to project standards, contract requirements, quality standards, discipline standards, and accepted engineering and construction practices.
Travel to jobsite, vendor facilities, client or JV partners, as required.
