Principal Piping Engineer

 

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a Principal Piping Engineer to work on the engineering and project management services at our office in Al - Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

• Reporting to the Piping Discipline Manager, the main functions of the role will be to execute designing and drafting activities in accordance with the quality system in force within the Discipline, job requirements and time schedule
• Assume a Lead role or assist a designated Lead Piping Engineer on FEED / Detailed Design projects in accordance with assignments arranged by the Piping Discipline Manager
• Preparing piping engineering specifications and performing piping design calculations
• Developing Plot plan and Equipment layouts under the supervision and following the instructions of Lead or Piping Discipline Manager according to the established Technical Work Practices
• Developing 2D Piping General Arrangement Drawings under the supervision and following the instructions of Lead or Piping Discipline Manager according to the established Technical Work Practices
• Developing 3D model based on the layout study under the supervision and following the instructions of Lead or Piping Discipline Manager according to the established Technical Work Practices
• Prepare Isometric sketches for all Stress critical lines with the possible support locations and support the stress engineer to carry out stress analysis
• Update the 3D model based on the Internal reviews, Client reviews, latest Supplier information, isometric checking comments and maintain a clash free model
• Perform all assigned work to agreed standards for safety, health environment and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) performance
• Participate in, and advice, on all design activities and initiatives, including provision of training, inductions and documentation review
• Ensure that all designs are to required standards and that the objectives of the project are met

Skills / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Piping Engineering with at least 15 years’ experience
• Thorough knowledge of piping engineering calculations, material specifications, MTO, and procurement requisitions preparation
• Thorough knowledge of Equipment layout Development and Piping layout design
• Familiar and hands on experience with design and drafting tools like SP3D, PDS, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and I Sketch
• Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive
• Possess good interpersonal skills with sound written and oral communication skills
• Flexible approach and able to work under pressure with a can - do attitude and a desire to win
• Ability to promote an open and informal communication environment that aims at growing mutual trust and teamwork
