Brief Posting Description

We are currently recruiting for a Principal Piping Designer on a 7x3 rotational basis located in Sakhalin. This role requires somebody who has both on and offshore experience and current offshore certification may be required.

For the development and delivery of Brownfield design team.

Basic Functions

To carryout Piping Designer studies in a hands on role;
To prepare design drawings from engineering data and specifications in accordance with project, company, client standards and procedures. These will include piping,pipe supports and minor mechanical details;
To check drawings;
To prepare material take off;
To prepare weight calculations;
To mentor nationals in PDMS training;
To carryout document searches via Livelink and Documentum;
To support the piping offshore survey effort with occasional offshore survey trips;
To perform layout and design work from the basic data supplied;
Apply advanced level techniques in computer design and standard design applications;
Ensure job tasks are correctly performed, with no impact on cost or schedule;
Offshore survey visits are required.

Devises new approaches to problems encountered;
Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring, judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria;
Monitors and updates progress, weekly to ensure Productivity is within the Project requirements;
Carries out assigned tasks in a timely manner and within the agreed hours;
Raises PCR's as required, to justify additional hours etc.;
Stands in for Lead Piping Designer during rotational periods;
Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex; features such as conflicting design requirements,unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements;
Provides technical guidance and mentoring to Russian National Designers;
The candidate will be able to operate as part of a small team, will demonstrate good safety awareness;
Assisting and supporting the Lead Piping Designer with managing the Piping Design Team;
Mentor, train and develop national designers to international levels of competence, delivery and productivity;
Performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter with no supervision.
