Aker Solutions Piping department, based in Kuala Lumpur, consists today of highly skilled engineers and designers. We perform detail design and layouts of new offshore installations and land based process plants as well as participate in FEEDs. This includes activities like equipment layout, LQ layout and ergonomics, stress analysis of critical piping, pipe support activities, detailed specification of piping components and valves, material and weight take off, material handling activities and site operations support for our ongoing projects worldwide.

Responsibilities and tasks

• Supervises, assigns, and schedules work for the Piping design & layout team for the assigned project, under general direction of the Lead Engineer Piping.
• Responsible for the overall layout design activities of the project.
• Responsible for ensuring the job progress as per schedule and as per required quality level.
.• Responsible for Plot Plan/ Eq layout development from start and its maintenance
.• Responsible for developing piping design estimates, schedules and manpower requirements.
• Represents piping design in meetings with Clients, suppliers, subcontractors, licensors and other Company disciplines, and produces documentation required for conference or meeting notes.
• Ensures communication flow, both verbal and written, is maintained within piping engineering and with other design and engineering disciplines.
• Coordinates piping design activities with other design and engineering groups.
• Identifies deviations in job scope, estimates extent of changes, and initiates deviation notices/ change requests.
• Monitors and controls the document schedule, deviation notices, and progress.
• Prepares and distributes design instructions pertaining to project design requirements and drafting procedures.
• Responsible for coaching, teaching, and effective supervision of assigned piping design personnel.
• Provides the input for Piping weights for weight control report purpose in consultation with the lead engineer.

Qualifications & personal attributes

• Above 18 years of relevant Piping design/layout experience reqd. preferably in Oil & Gas
• Experience as lead designer for detail engineering for at least 2 projects such as a CPP/ Floating / WHP project
• Hands on experience on PDMS , MDS.
• Good English communication skills
