Overview

Foster Wheeler currently has an opportunity for a Lead / Senior Piping Engineer. In this role you will enjoy being both proactive and hands-on, whilst also taking a leadership role in supporting the group’s objectives across FEED, EPC and PMC scopes of work.  This position will be based in our Abu Dhabi Office, working within the Foster Wheeler Upstream organisation. The role will serve the requirements of our Client's onshore and offshore facilities in the UAE. It offers an excellent and exciting opportunity to develop your existing talents.  You will deliver projects safety, on schedule and on budget to meet Foster Wheeler’s and the Client’s expectations and give leadership to additional Piping Engineers / Designers, as required. In addition responsibilities include giving layout support to projects, undertaking discipline audits and due-diligence reviews, providing discipline training and developing project procedures and standards.
The ideal candidate shall be a highly motivated engineer, able to work unsupervised and as part of a discipline and overall project team and have demonstrable leadership qualities. The candidate shall have had previous experience executing piping engineering project work in the oil and gas industry.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the planning, administration, and technical activities of Piping teams to achieve the high quality and timely completion of assigned work.
• Must be experienced in supervision of staff and running the Engineering portion of Projects, scheduling, progressing, work plan input, planning, manpower loading etc.
• Delivery of unit and equipment level layout through all project phases and particularly in the early conceptual studies and the pre-FEED and FEED phases of projects.
• Be responsible for a cost-focussed approach so that the layout minimises plant installed costs, whilst ensuring that constructability and operational safety and maintenance requirements are appropriately addressed.
• Provide quality and innovative plant layout and produce deliverables and technical reports as required to deliver the Projects safely, on schedule and on budget.
• On each project, produce or review and comment on all requisitions, i.e., expansion joints, special pipe supports, etc.
• Read and interpret equipment narratives, technical drawings, schematics, process data, piping 3D models, Isometric Drawings, and computer-generated reports.
• Undertake site surveys.
• Confer with engineers, designers and other personnel to implement piping designs, resolve systems inconsistencies and/or provide technical information.
• Specify system components and / or direct modification of equipment to ensure conformance with engineering design, specifications and performance, maintain piping specialty items list and data sheets.
• Present and discuss plant layout issues with various audiences, including prime project stakeholders in a highly professional manner providing sound constructive advice.
• Ability in the use of industry wide 2D and 3D CAD systems, especially PDS, PDMS and SP3D.
• Coordination of Stress analysis and knowledge of the use of Caesar would be advantage.
• Facilitate effective workshare with other Foster Wheeler offices as required.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
• Extensive use and knowledge of PDS (Plant Design System), PDMS (Plant Design Management System) and use of SP3D (Smart Plant 3D) is also useful.
• Expertise in specific processes or in constructability strategies such as modularisation.
• Experience working on conceptual, FEED or EPC projects and studies within the following disciplines; Oil & Gas - offshore and onshore, Petrochemical and Refining.
• Experience of training and mentoring junior staff members.
