Lead Piping Engineer Job Description

As PMC Discipline Lead Engineer, incumbent will be responsible for monitoring the EPCC CONTRACTOR detail design for piping detailed design. She will need to establish that the FEED design is being followed incorporating requirements for technical uniformity and standardization as defined in the EPCC CONTRACT Scope of Work.

- Piping MTO handling and control for the project
- Quality Control
- International & Local/statutory codes and standards for piping design
- Conducting Model Reviews/other reviews
The person may have to take an assignment for over a year at EPCC contractor location and thereafter return at project site in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The general responsibilities of the lead discipline engineer for his area of expertise are:
1. Review and/or approval of EPCC contractors’ key engineering drawings and vendor data per the engineering document and data requirements set forth in the EPCC contracts and the document review and approval matrix
2. Review and technical approval of requested deviations (in consultation with Central Engineering Group)
3. Review and approval of critical equipment requisitions and technical bid tabulations in accordance with the terms of the EPCC contracts
4. Compliance with the PMC review and approval cycle stipulated in the EPCC contracts for claim avoidance
5. Address EPCC contractor’s clarification requests on errors or inconsistencies in the FEED engineering deliverables
6. Liaison with the central engineering team for plant integrity and consistency
7. Manage mechanical interfaces with other EPCC contractors and PMC directorate.
8. Participate in engineering review meetings
9. Participate in constructability, operability and maintainability review
10. Coordination for compliance check and deviation approval
11. Liaise with other disciplines to ensure inter-discipline checks are being performed by EPCC CONTRACTOR.

Basic Job Requirements:
1. An accredited Bachelors degree, or equivalent, in Engineering, and 2. 20 years of related experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical projects

Strong communication and ability to lead a team

Lead Piping Engineer Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Piping, or similar filed with requisite piping design engineering experience.
