Job Description

Senior Piping Designer

Under the direction of a technical supervisor or senior engineer, may exercise organization and control of the operations of a group of designers or may be specialized individual contributor being involved in highly advanced and complex design activities requiring sound technical knowledge.

Responsibilities:

• Work within a team of Piping Designers from FEED through scoping and detailed engineering to construction;
• Responsible for performing plant layout and piping design activities using Auto-plant 3D CAD modelling system;
• Produce the various discipline deliverables to the agreed schedule;
• Apply recognized engineering practices applicable to piping design and plant layout;
• Apply good interpersonal skills, liaising with members of other disciplines and departments;
• Apply an awareness and willingness to work as a team member;
• Check the piping layout designs, quality of engineering documentation and installation;
• Liaise with clients, vendors, engineers, and other disciplines;
• Keep to agreed schedules and budgets for all deliverables;
• Participate in the professional development of less experienced members of the department/team.

Requirements:

• Excellent organizational, communication, time management, and problem solving skills;
• 7-15 years proven of experience of detailed piping design within the petrochemical industry;
• Hydrocarbon revamp experience a definite asset.
• A thorough knowledge of the codes and standards and a good understanding of engineering practices applicable to piping design for petrochemical facilities;
• Experience as a user of Auto-Plant drafting piping layout and design;
• A committed team player able to work on own initiative with the minimum of supervision.
• Work in an office environment as well as be able to go to site to take field measurements. Also may need to work in an office on site to support our clients.

Reporting and Location:

• Reporting to the Manager, Piping Design.
• Position is located in Sarnia, Ontario.
