We are currently looking for a Principal Engineer - Layout, Piping & Design – Integrated Offshore Structures. Due to the nature of this role, the candidate can be based in either Aberdeen or Dunfermline (UK).

In this role you will be working as part of our Surface International (SI) Project Group focusing on the Shallow Water Business segment, which brings together the complementary skills and innovative technologies of subsea, onshore/offshore and surface into the scope, know-how and determination to transform our clients’ project economics and make them successful. The role is specifically focusing on the supply of fixed offshore structures, primarily our IOS (Integrated Offshore Solution) platform solution. This is an advanced role within the SI Project Organization which focuses on technical solutions development and is both supplier and client facing.

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for understanding technology and current market innovations for client applications on potential as well as ongoing IOS projects.
  • Support Managers, Front End and System Engineering team and project managers in delivering quality solutions to clients for project capture and sales development.
  • During project execution this role is essential to finalizing and releasing finalized drawings to fabricators, suppliers, and regulatory entities for project approval and construction of the platforms. Significant internal coordination and collaboration between various TechnipFMC functions and Project units while maintaining attention to detail is fundamental to the success in this role.
  • Perform structural analysis and engineering in support of IOS product development, project execution, and customer support.
  • Review, investigate and understand current market trends and available products for Integrated Offshore Solutions applications.
  • Develop the whole facility layout drawing/ model with complete piping systems integrating other package/ product design drawings into the model identifying any gaps, conflicts, or inconsistencies.
  • Review and interpret engineering data and drawings keeping in mind the desired system end state.
  • Develop the product 3D models and produce detailed drawings including site/ plot plans, general arrangements (GA) drawings, piping plans and piping isometrics.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with all design/engineering disciplines and equipment vendors for delivery of the holistic and finalized product end state solution.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines and assist them in the production of their deliverables.
  • Ensure designs adhere to applicable industry and project standards with a mind to ensuring that the structures will ultimately meet targeted regional / country regulations.
  • Produce piping Material Take-Off documents for finalized submission and authorization for construction.
  • Provide clarifications to the fabricators, suppliers, and sub-contractors during fabrication as required.
  • Review client requirements for fixed offshore platforms and perform suitability analyses of offering.
  • Assists the various departments and engineering disciplines during required analyses including load-out, lifting, transportation, stability analyses, or others that may require design and modeling.
  • Guides and assists project engineering teams during execution within time and budget constraints.
  • Ensures timely internal and external reporting of design and modeling activities and progress.
  • Ensures execution within time, budget, and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements by allocating resources, managing risks, opportunities, and changes.

You are meant for this role if you have:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
  • Substantial experience working in conceptual design, pre-FEED, FEED, EPCI projects, on-shore/ off-shore projects, modules and skidded equipment, and/or vessel design.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work across multiple disciplines, independently consolidate and analyze information from various sources to develop effective, complete and holistic client solutions.
  • Demonstrates ability to plan, schedule, problem solve, and coordinate multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated quality of work and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge in piping lay outs, structure support lay outs, and 3D modeling for offshore projects.
  • Possesses knowledge and practical use of modeling software such as AutoCAD, 3D CAD( PDMS).
  • Computer skills: advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
