Position Details:


Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and supervise the activity of facility inspections within the Mid-Continent Business Unit.
  • Coordinate all phases of routine repetitive inspection for existing Fixed Equipment and Structures with area operations and maintenance input.
  • Verify inspection of repairs, modifications and inspection of new construction for compliance with specification, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare inspection reports with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Consult with Maintenance Superintendent or Project Engineer as needed.
  • Review reports with operations and construction personnel.
  • Provide technical support on corrective actions methods and techniques.
  • Monitor continuous process improvement for the Chevron Inspection Process Documents.
  • Demonstrate Chevron Way values, strong teamwork ethics and principles and HES focus through behaviors, actions and decisions.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to HES and exhibits Incident and injury free leadership behaviors.
    Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the inspection of refining, chemical and/or gas plants.
  • Current API 570 Piping Inspection, API 653 Tank Inspection, API 510 Vessel Inspection certifications.
  • A National Board vessel inspection certification may be accepted in lieu of the API 510.
  • Strong background in planning and execution of inspection work and turnarounds.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all phases of routine repetitive inspections for mechanical equipment and welding inspection in accordance with standard procedures and established schedules.
  • Competent in interpreting Company Inspection Policy State and Federal regulations, ASME, ANSI, API, AWS, NFPA, and Corporate Practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in existing piping systems, tanks, pressure vessels, fire equipment and structures and new construction for compliance with specifications, drawings, codes, and craftsmanship.
  • Employs optimization tools and processes such as Lean Sigma to improve reliability and reduce opex.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally at all levels inside and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to foster cooperation/ collaboration to improve business results.
  • Maintains positive working relations with Operations, Inspectors, Engineers, Construction Reps and contractors.
  • Supports work management process, scheduling, scoping, and Preventative/Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM) development.
  • Ability to prepare inspection reports with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Ability to review reports with teams and coordinate equipment repair plans providing technical counsel on corrective methods and techniques.
  • Up to 30% travel required within the Business Unit.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience and/or training in Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Fitness for Service and Damage Mechanisms: API 579, 580 and 571 preferred.
  • Certifications include: Level II in Mag Participle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (AWS/CWI).
  • May accept equivalent training and experience to obtain certifications within 12 months of new assignment.
  • Multiple software systems and database are used to track inspection and repair data.
  • Strong back ground using excel and inspection data bases preferred, ability to use AutoCAD to create and update existing drawings.
