Piping Designer – Basra

Job Description: Brief Posting Description
We are currently recruiting for a Piping Designer located at our West Qurna site in Iraq. This position must be filled by an Iraqi National who resides locally to the West Qurna area.
• This is a Site position based in Basra. Normal working time will be 6 days a week, 8 hours per day, 48hours a week
• The project scope consists of Conceptual study, FEED and detailed engineering for various Greenfield and brownfields projects in West Qurna 1 field
• Reporting to the Lead Piping Engineer the candidate will carry out assigned Piping discipline work as part of a multi-discipline project team
Detailed Description
Primary Role:
• To perform site surveys and data gathering exercises at various locations throughout the field
• Preparation and checking of piping design deliverables
• Responsible for design team activities and assisting Principal Designer and Engineers with resource scheduling and man hour reporting
• To liaise with the Client's local Operations and Maintenance staff
• To provide field engineering support to the site team during construction, installation and commissioning activities
• To promote safe behaviour at all times
Principal Responsibilities:
• Preparation and checking of all piping design deliverables such as Piping GAs, Nozzle orientations, Isometrics, pipe support drawings, piping MTO, Tie-in schedule etc.
• Interdisciplinary check of PFD, P&ID and Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation drawings
• Review of vendor drawings for Equipment / Package items
• Produce drawings in AutoCAD
• To assist in the coordination of all activities related to piping system
Job Requirements
• Diploma or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Relevant experience in the oil and gas industry preferred
• Proven capability in an engineering design company preferred
• Experience of site-based project work involving field engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, or maintenance preferred
• Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
• Onshore Oil and Gas related piping design experience preferred
• Thorough awareness of international codes and standards for piping design
• A determination to continually improve safety in all aspects of plant design and operation
• Willingness to learn
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel and Word
• Strong commitment to safety
• Must be able to work to an agreed scope, budget and schedule
• An active listener with the ability to focus on customer requirements
• Operational support / construction and commissioning
• Prepare and co-ordinate Piping Design deliverables
• Compliance with WGPSN procedures and industry, international and Client Codes and standards
• Maintain suitable records of correspondence and work completed for reference and auditing purposes.
