Responsibilities

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Estimating workload and determining staff requirements;

• Developing, approving and coordinating work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality and deadlines are met;

• Keeping up-to-date on new design processes and drafting techniques;

• Developing and recommending improvements in design standards to lower costs improve work quality and facilitate maintenance;

• Investigating, advising and resolving unusual design and field engineering problems by devising new approaches or applying existing criteria in novel ways;

• Developing guidelines;

• Making recommendations to improve unit efficiency;

• Ensuring that effective methods and engineering techniques are used;

• Analyzing problems and conducting investigations and research;

• Resolving project issues and problems.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing technical guidance to co-workers;

• Supervising work of subordinates within a large work unit;

• Providing employees with training and development opportunities;

• Providing input into salary recommendations and performance evaluations;

• Making recommendations on recruiting and other Human Resources activities.
