WorleyParsons looking for Lead Piping and Layout Engineer to be based in UAE.

Position: Permanent

Location: Dubai, UAE

Primary objective

  • The Engineering services are expected to be required on an intermittent call off basis and shall include but not be limited to:
  • Project management, project planning, document management, risk assessment, value improvements, etc.
  • FEED (piping, electrical, instrumentation, structural and civil)
  • Assistance with technical bid evaluation of EPC service and procurement contracts as well as bids for equipment
  • Company is still assessing a selection of possible projects to move forward with, however the following are known to be required and are likely to be the first projects to kick off:
  • Water inlet.. Technical and commercial decision support package required to establish whether to refurbish existing; demolish and re-build as per current design or demolish and build new facility using current technologies
  • Chemical injection. Regime to be established and suitable injection system to be designed. Little to no chemical injection facilities exist at location or at the CPS's. Technical decision support package required to establish a practicable solution.
  • Filtration at location. Inlet filtration is currently limited to >6mm particles at inlet facility. Treatment plant fine filtration is operating significantly below capacity. Technical decision support package required to establish alternative system(s).
  • Bid evaluation assistance. Company expects to award an EPC contract for the installation of new HPVI pumps at the five CPS’s and requires assistance technically evaluating the bids.

Specific Accountabilities

· The Lead Piping Layout Engineer co-ordinates all the piping engineering, piping design and equipment layout functions to meet the objectives of a Project.Responsible authority over the Lead Piping/Layout Engineer, Lead Stress Engineer, Lead Material Engineer, all assigned to the discipline to complete the plant layout & piping design and engineering activities

· Organise and manage all aspects of the workload of a team of piping discipline engineers and designers, within the parameters of a project schedule.

· Experience in FEED and Detailed Engineering

· Organise and manage the resource requirements for the piping disciplineEnsure recognised engineering practices applicable to piping design and plant layout are adopted.

· Exercise guidance to staff in the preparation of piping materials and valve specifications and subsequently ensure purchase to required standards.

· Manage, communicate and control Change Management- identify design changes, evaluate and notify variations, implement design changes

Essential Skills/Experience

· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

· Sufficient knowledge of piping materials to guide staff in the preparation of piping and valve specifications and subsequently ensure purchase to required standards.

· Extensive current design experience is required in piping engineering, piping stress, pipe supports, equipment layouts and detailed piping design, all gained with notable design contractors and/or oil/gas companies within the petrochemical industry particularly with respect to oil and gas installations.

Matching Indicators

· Minimum 15 years in the field of oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical process design. Preference will be given for candidates with experience in the Middle East engineering consultancy companies

· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent to qualify for corporate membership of IE Aust.

· A background in piping layouts and piping design procedures.Knowledge of Industry Piping Codes.

· Experience in piping engineering including pipe wall thickness calculations, branch connection reinforcement check and equipment nozzle load calculations.

· Exposure to piping stress analysis using CAESAR II and manual calculation methods, pipe support selection and design input.

· Exposure to use of design software like AutoCAD / Microstation and 3D modelling packages like PDMS/SP3D.
