1. Scope of Responsibilities

Operate as part of a team in the design and drafting activities, producing calculations, estimates and technical drawings in support of engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction activities.
2. Primary Duties

  • Develop initial bill of material, prepare technical layouts and drawings for proposal estimation.
  • Review the Technical Document Register (TDR), evaluate scope of work, number of required engineering deliverables, establish design and drafting requirements, format of delivery, time schedules and other requirements for execution of the work. Study Data Sheets, Piping Material Specifications (PMS), Process/Mechanical Data Sheets (PDS/MDS), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Review Philosophies, Equipment Vendor Drawings, Pipe Specifications, Piping Design Basis, process requirements, access requirements, aesthetic requirements, Line Lists, Instrument Specifications, Specialty Item Lists, Drawing Index’s and other relevant documents.
  • Evaluate development methods and software requirements: AutoCAD, PDS, PDMS 3D Modeling and other related software.
  • Produce plot plan, equipment layout and piping plan. Identify technical conflicts in layout design, coordinate with other engineering disciplines on solutions to technical irregularities.
  • Prepare inputs for civil engineering including identification of rack locations, foundations, access platforms, underground services, pipe supports, structures for elevated equipment and other piping layout requirements.
  • Develop 3D CAD models with necessary dimensions and other relevant details to assist the Engineering Disciplines and Fabrication/Construction personnel. Study layout feasibility, resolve design irregularities, prepare isometric drawings for stress analysis, and provide stress and piping loads for civil engineering.
  • Perform layout clash/interface checks, identify conflicts, and take corrective action in coordination with other engineering discipline inputs.
  • Issue engineering drawings and layouts for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC’s) coordinate with other engineering discipline in the integration of technical data inputs. Prepare final layouts and drawings integrating inputs provided by other engineering disciplines. Consult and make recommendations to Engineers on feasibility of design plans and layouts.
  • Supply Engineers with estimates for the required quantities. Prepare material take off’s (MTO’s), review vendor drawings.
  • Prepare isometric drawings for final layouts and drawing for installation and construction. Provide clarification, guidance and technical support to construction and commissioning personnel. Perform design changes and alterations based on Design Change Notices (DCN’s) when required.
  • Prepare “As-Built” Drawings (plot plans/equipment layouts) following completion of construction activities.
  • Ensure conformity of designs and layouts in accordance to Company Engineering procedures and ISO Quality Standards. Upload documents into “Documentum”, maintain and archive IDC’s, originals, checkprints and Master technical drawings in accordance to Company and quality procedures.
  • Perform related duties as and when directed by the direct supervisor.

3. Job/Cost Impact
Produces designs and drawings based on information received from senior designers and engineers. Prepares estimates supporting the preparation of associated requisitions. Cost/delivery impact situations are reviewed by supervisors.

4. Decision Making Authority

May make recommendations on technical scope of project design and layouts, consults with Supervisor on issues which may affect layout and deviations of equipment specifications.

Duties performed in Main Office mostly in air-conditioned surroundings. Approximately 90-100% of time spent on the computer. Occasionally incumbent may require traveling to sites and occasionally visiting vendor workshops.

9. Minimum Requirement
Associate Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical Draftsmanship with a minimum of 5 years of related oil & gas/petrochemical experience.

Provide discipline specific piping design and drafting services using AutoCAD and CADWorx software for WorleyParsons and its clients. Perform piping design activities at refinery sites including as-built drawing efforts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Working with Piping Department to complete small piping projects  
    • Creating and editing drawings as required.
    • Work collaboratively and effectively with other designers and engineers in all departments to support projects as needed.
    • Field work as required and multiple client sites.
    • Building CADWorx piping models for refinery and other industrial clients.
    • Working with laser scan data (point clouds).
    • Creating isometric and plan/elevation drawings in AutoCAD.

What you will bring

  • Minimum high school education with basic computer skills including and relevant approved certificate from a state or technical education department or equivalent for CAD training. .
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD. 
  • Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

We are looking for a self-motivated person with a minimum of a High School diploma or higher, and/or relevant approved certificate from a state or technical education department, or equivalent for 3D CAD training. In addition, the candidate should have good computer skills including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.

This person should also have good verbal/written communication skills and able to work safely in a refinery environment while performing piping design activities at refinery sites including as-built drawing efforts. Refinery field activities could involve climbing ladders, platforms, etc.

Role Overview

The Wheatstone LNG (WSLNG) Project is a 2 Train Liquefied Natural Gas Facility that will be constructed near Onslow in Western Australia. The project is employing a modular approach to its execution which includes the assembly of large, complex and heavy Process Modules as well as simple and relatively light Yard Rack Modules. Some of the modules will be assembled at the Kencana fabrication yard in Lumut, Malaysia by an integrated team of Bechtel, Kencana and Chevron staff. The work will be 100% subcontracted. Applicants for this construction position shall have heavy industrial (CM) module construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken and the requirements identified below. A successful candidate will be assigned to the project team as a representative of the Construction functional group. This individual will ensure that construction requirements are made known to the project team in a timely manner and will obtain construction responses to the needs of other members of the project team. The employee must be able to perform duties under minimal direction by management and develop and apply construction procedures, which may be unique and innovative in nature, to resolve complex and difficult problems which may arise. This individual will support the execution planning for the module packages. Responsibilities will include evaluating and oversight of the module subcontractor’s scope of work and associated lower tier subcontracts, input to and support of the project schedule development, prepare reports and forecasts for as required. Employee must also provide problem resolution leadership to module team. Bechtel is one of the world’s premier engineering, construction, and project management companies. Superintendent Piping has construction management duties for a number of module assembly operational requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: - Foster and promote safety as a core value in all works which includes participating, holding and attending daily and weekly safety meetings. Ensure safety toolbox is incorporated into daily prestart. Attend safety walks with HSE leads and Area Superintendents. - Coordinate with Subcontractors and Discipline Superintendents to validate manpower requirements. - Review weekly scheduled work plans for a specific area and validate adequate amount of work is scheduled/performed and actualized in accordance to plan. - Ensure that scheduling concerns and constraints are highlighted and escalated to module yard construction management team. - Hold/attend weekly production meetings with subcontractor to validate provided input and ensure progress is on target by area of discipline. - Supervise and coordinate daily with subcontract representatives on construction activities, within assigned disciplines and area of scope. Included but not limited to fabrication team, assembly team, heavy lift team, heavy haul/transport team, AQIS and materials management team. - Responsible for ensuring the modules in assigned area are maintain according to the project house keeping and AQIS standards. Ensure validation of AQIS records and check sheets as per sub contract procedures. - Prepare weekly/monthly reports and job manpower forecasts as required. - Participates in constructability reviews of the 3-D model. - Participates in development of constructability log issues/ideas. - Works with the Subcontractor, Engineering, Procurement and Construction to assist in developing work package deliverables to support module fabrication. - Review subcontractor proposals and documentation to ensure subcontractor is operating within the contractual procedures. - Knowledge of the subcontractors responsibilities contained in subcontract documents. - Interface with Design and Field Engineering teams as required - Ensure current revision documents are utilized for installation. - Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operation position of Piping Superintendent. - Coordinate activities with subcontractors and clients' resident representative as instructed by module yard construction management team. - Perform on boarding requirements and 6-12 week feed back evaluations on subordinate personnel. - Ensure that sub ordinate members have read and preformed Bechtel University courses relevant to Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPP) by required discipline. - Ensure that all Bechtel, State and Federal safety codes, requirements, and standards are being complied within assigned area of responsibility. - Experience in Modular project execution and fabrication, pipe spool fabrication, shop steel fabrication, shop supervision and construction management processes are essential. - Position will start in module yard in Lumut, Malaysia.
