Job Purpose:
The challenge? Help develop and provide high quality, leading edge sustainable engineering solutions to our clients in the industrial (power, oil & gas, chemicals and petrochemical, and petroleum refining industries) sector for water/wastewater treatment. Our Lead Piping Designer position will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting projects in our Middle East market. Each day you will be an important team leader as you participate in the design, coordination, execution, procurement support, construction support and execution of multiple engineering projects. You should be a self-motivated, detailed oriented professional with a minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience working as a Piping Designer in engineering and design of water treatment, wastewater treatment, oil and gas and chemical facilities and a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each project
Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 
Our Lead Piping Designers:
• Supervise/ Lead the project design team for piping including determining work assignments and meeting project budget and schedule 
• Participate in design coordination with engineers and project management 
• Perform design work utilizing 3D CAD systems
• Participate in the generation of proposals, scopes, schedules and budgets 
• Provide input to and help develop P&IDs, equipment specifications, vendor proposals and technical studies
• Mentor junior staff
• Act as design lead on assigned projects
• Participate in construction support activities including responses to requests for information (RFIs), submittal reviews, construction site visits and inspections, and design revisions/ management of change
Basic Qualifications
Job Requirements/Qualifications/Experience:
Basic Qualifications
• Appropriate engineering degree or equivalent
• Minimum 15 years relevant experience
• 3 years’ experience as a lead designer for heavy industrial projects
• 5 years’ experience utilizing a 3D piping package such as SP3D, CADDworx or similar 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Previous work experience in Water & Wastewater industry for industrial clients
• Previous experience in engineering consultancy
• Must be willing to travel to meet project needs
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the basic qualifications we also desire the following:
• 10+ years’ experience as lead piping designer on projects in water, oil & gas, power generation
• Strong working relationships with industrial clients

Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an internationally recognised University. A Chartered Engineer status or membership with a Professional Institution is preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 15 years of post graduate experience in Oil & Gas industry in the areas of Piping design; Static Equipment design; and selection of Rotating Equipment (pumps, compressors, gas turbines, instrument air compressor package, variable speed drive systems and lifting equipment) with a reputed design consultant or EPIC contractor, of which a minimum of 8 years in the Lead/Senior Engineer or similar position. Candidate shall have adequate exposure to pre- commissioning, commissioning, start-up, testing and trouble shooting. Must possess excellent written and oral English language and reporting skills. Experience in the execution of CNG / L-CNG projects will be an added advantage.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide technical expertise/service to the Project in all areas of Mechanical Engineering during Front End Engineering Design and Detailed Design in EPIC Execution stage, ensuring that the Mechanical Engineering designs are optimal, safe, cost effective and in compliance with the latest Codes, Standards, National and QP Corporate requirements and Procedures.·        Responsible for all the design and development aspects of Mechanical Engineering and ensure that all associated technical services are in compliance with the latest codes, standards and safety regulations during all stages of the project life cycle.

Responsible for the safe and optimal Piping, Static Equipment, Rotating Equipment and Package  Equipment design development for the Project. Coordinate with various discipline engineers under the guidance of Head of Technical/Lead Engineer and ensure that Equipment and Package design developments are cost effective, using latest technology and delivered in a timely manner consistent with project schedule requirements.

Undertake Piping material studies; Static, Rotating and Package Equipment design, selection/application, sizing and optimization studies; studies for existing facilities revamp/upgrade, as necessary.

Co-ordinate the interface technical matters, project schedule and implementation strategy in various phases of the Project lifecycle i.e. Study, Scope of Work preparation, Pre-award evaluations, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Start-up phases. Ensure full life cycle costs are taken into consideration during the decision- making process for design. Carry out in-house Mechanical design,  including preparation of piping material specifications, piping data sheets and piping drawings, piping stress analysis, preparation of specifications and data sheets for Static, Rotating and Package Equipment, and perform Technical Bid Evaluation for Equipment.

Job Description:
