We are seeking a Stress Engineer to join the Plant Layout and Piping team in Calgary. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Plant Layout and Piping.

 

Piping stress engineer Responsibilities

 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities include:
•The stress engineer will report directly to the Lead Piping/Stress Engineer at the project level
•Interface closely with piping layout group to resolve pipe routing issues
•Complete calculations using Autopipe or by inspection to support fabrication schedules
•Review piping systems for two phase flow, vibration, upset conditions
•Provide input to equipment requisitions for nozzle allowables
•Participate in the review of vendor submitted documents
•Provide input to the planning and progressing of stress activities by system or line number
•Review and approve calculations performed by less senior stress engineers
•Review and approve final fabrication isometrics and support types
•Prepare engineered support datasheets for purchasing
•Complying with all Company and departmental policies and procedures including all Health, Safety, and Environment policies
•Building and maintaining effective working relationships with others
•Demonstrating behavior that reflects professionalism and respect, and represents SNC-Lavalin’s best interests

Piping Stress Engineer Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:


•Mechanical Engineering degree and extensive knowledge of ASME B31.3
•Ability to interpret requirements of related engineering codes e.g. ASME Boiler and Pressure
Vessel Code, API codes, other ASME B31 series codes
•Ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment
•Knowledge of using finite element analysis packages like FE Pipe is a desirable qualification
•Professional Engineer status in Alberta will be considered as an asset
