· Responsible for the management of PDMS to enable engineering design data input.

· Multi-discipline end user access to PDMS

· Multi-discipline end user support in the use of PDMS

· Ensure Clash Manager is run

· Ensure regular database integrity checks

· Ensure Compliance with Corporate and Project Engineering Systems procedures and work instructions

· Coordinates clean-up of all models, drawings, related folders and any other files prior to closeout.

· Audits project to ensure client requirements are met and compliance with Model Build work instructions

· Develops project specific work instructions as required

· Scheduling data exchange in workshare projects by use of PDMS Global

· Implements PDMS database customisation.

· Setup and support of PDMS Applications.

· Setup and support of PDMS Interfaces.

· Leads and responsible for PDMS Project Support

· Defines PDMS database requirements

· Defines the PDMS Plant area breakdown requirements

· Defines PDMS Interface requirements

· Point of contact for Project Discipline Leads on PDMS issues

· Assists discipline leads to define training requirements

· Interface with Project Leads to ensure client modeling requirements are met.

· Interfaces with other Design Tool Administrators to ensure data sharing (The corporate aim is for single data entry)

· Defines priorities for PDMS Project Support

· Develops project specific work instructions as required

· Lead the PDMS kick-off meeting

· PDMS Archives

Purpose / Role
• To support the Principal Engineer, and to work with the Piping Team in delivering the Piping Engineering Design meeting AMEC and Client criteria for Technical Design Quality, Technical Safety and within allocated timescale.
• The work involves conceptual and detail design for offshore brownfield projects in a developing organisation.
Key aims and objectives
• To support the Piping Team to deliver to Clients needs, working safely and accurately.
• To actively take part in and support the career development of the teams graduate and other technical design personnel.
Prime responsibilities and duties
• Preparation of Piping design including front end, detail design and close out deliverables, as directed by the Principal Engineer.
• To work with the Engineering Team in providing safe designs.
Allied occasional duties
• Prepare and provide graduate and technical development sessions.
• Occasional short offshore visits to survey and develop designs.
Key internal interfaces
• Other disciplines – especially process, instruments, mechanical, and technical safety.
• Asset Project team , Procurement, Planning, QA, HSE,
Key external interfaces
• Liaise with BP Engineering and Operations for input to design (as applicable) under guidance of Principal Eng.
• Liase with relevant vendors and suppliers (under guidance of Principal Engineers) to obtain design information
Core competencies
• Competent technically in discipline.
• Good communication skills and able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

PIPING-ENGINEER

Responsibilities and tasks
To carry out design activities within an area of a project and ensure that the technical and safety integrity of the design is maintained and that the Company and Project procedures are adhered to
To be aware of and adhere to the Aker Solutions values, systems and processes including PEM and AKiMS
Organisational:
• To ensure that the work allocated is completed in compliance with Line Managers requirements
• To ensure that the inter-discipline aspects of the design are addressed
• To ensure the generation of project drawing deliverables is via AKMS (including “check-in” / check-out”, if applicable)
• The maintenance of professional standards with regard to both attitude and work
• Ensuring that Designers, and CAD Operators are fully acquainted with the appropriate use of AKIMS
• To coach less experienced members within the squad to assist with their development
Technical:
• The Candidate must have PDMS & POINT CLOUD experience
• The preparation of drawings and or modelling related to discipline in accordance with the agreed workscope, man-hours and schedule
• The carrying out of Single Discipline checking of Designers and CAD Operators work in accordance with the Company / Project procedures including PEM
• The carrying out of Onshore or Offshore Site Surveys, as required, to assist in the initial workscope definition or the development of the design and the compilation of a survey report in accordance with the Company / Project procedures
• Ensuring that the work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the current releases of any Company / Client or Statutory Design Codes, Standards or Procedures

Qualifications & personal attributes
• HNC or HND in a Relevant Engineering Discipline
• ONC (or Equivalent) in a Relevant Engineering Discipline
• Current Offshore Survival Certificate
• Current Medical Certificate
• Working knowledge of  2D CAD systems (AutoCAD / Microstation)
• Working Knowledge of PDMS (3D CAD system)
• Demonstrable experience within an engineering industry as a Designer/Senior Designer
• Industry recognised training where applicable

Specific Accountabilities

  • Produce the various discipline deliverables to the agreed schedule.
  • Apply recognised detail engineering practices applicable to piping design.
