Principal and Senior Piping Engineers – Foster Wheeler Duabi

 

Foster Wheeler currently has a number of requirements in our Piping Engineering group for Principal and Senior Piping Engineers to work on a project for KNPC. This is an opportunity for you to become a valuable, well-rounded member of an experienced team, with the successful candidate taking responsibility for managing Piping issues and deliverables on a refinery expansion project in Kuwait. The main focus of this work will be on the SHU / Tie Ins / IRT and New Units.
The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) is implementing a major project, the Clean Fuel Project (CFP) which comprises the upgrade of two existing refineries. The Clean Fuels Project is a major upgrade and expansion of the existing Mina Al-Ahmadi (MAA) and Mina Abdullah (MAB) refineries. The objective is to increase the overall throughput by 264,000 bpsd to 800,000 bpsd and to increase conversion of fuel oil to higher value products to meet expected market demand and specs for low sulphur content transport fuels. The overall project value is approximately 14-15 billion US dollars. KNPC plan to award the Clean Fuels Project as multiple EPC contracts and require Project Management Consultancy (PMC) teams to manage them in each of the successful EPC contractor offices.
Foster Wheeler has been awarded this overall PMC contract and we are looking to recruit a number of Engineering Professionals to cover efforts by the EPC contractors in their offices and on the Kuwait Refinery sites with support from a core team in the FW Reading office. After the EPC award (expected to be early 2014), the role of Foster Wheeler's PMC team will extend into the full EPC phase to operate from the EPC contractors offices at various locations worldwide for 12 - 15 months. The PMC teams which are likely to be based in the following locations, which will be confirmed once the EPC contracts have been awarded in early 2014 and then join the team in Kuwait for project completion (estimated to be another 18 months in Kuwait):

Responsibilities

  • Detailed knowledge of Piping Design and Plant Layout aspects
  • Proven understanding of Pipe Specification
  • Proven skill at support selection
  • Capable of pipe routing of all major process and utility piping in accordance with P&ID's and project standards, including specific service conditions and impact on piping design
  • Shall be capable of preparing SPS details for review/check by Stress Engineer; checking/correcting basic deliverables; preparation of Plot Plans in accordance with Project requirements and standards for checking by Layout Engineer
  • Capable of representing the project to the Client
  • Possess management skills and the ability to deliver projects
  • Issue clear directions on targets, communicate concisely and develop the piping team on projects
  • Maintain a strong work ethic and understand team dynamics and adjust behaviour to gain maximum advantage

Qualifications

  • Must be Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, or a similar related subject
  • Demonstrate a wealth of relevant experience in petrochemical or similar related industry
  • Experience must include Detail Engineering of similar installations and be of lead specification engineer calibre with strong communication skills
  • Ability to deal with resolution of technical and contractual issues and policing of the design to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Proven strong character and self-motivated individual
  • Proven ability to engage in effective dealings with both client / owner and detail design contractors
  • Must be able to work with the minimum of supervision and be technically strong.
