Job Description:

The Edmonton and Saskatoon regions of WorleyParsons has an immediate opening for a Senior 3D AutoPlant Piping Designer.

Responsibilities:

  • This level covers positions involving design work requiring specialized knowledge and a high standard of drafting and design skill.  Requires working knowledge of and interfaces with other disciplines and their documents.
  • Producing complicated designs in a specialized field, involving planning, layout, bill of materials, etc. for major greenfield and brownfield installations.
  • Designing and detailing new components from previous designs based on engineering instructions, government and regulatory codes.
  • Developing intermediate to difficult designs, layouts requiring theoretical and practical design knowledge in a specialized field.
  • Coordinating work between field and office along with assisting field forces during construction .
  • Checking work of, and assist in training of, less experienced design personnel.
  • Reporting progress of work assignment to immediate supervisor.
  • Decision Making (incl budgetary responsibility)
  • Within an established limit exercises independent judgment in the planning, organization and completion of assignments; makes specific recommendations on the utilization of new drafting/design techniques normally within an area of specialization.  Analyses design elements for potential feasibility, client or contractual requirements.
  • Works under direct supervision with scope for independent judgment in planning and organization methods.  Receives assignments in terms of objectives and priorities.  Work is reviewed and checked for acceptability and accomplishment of objectives.
  • May lead and exercise work direction over a number of less experienced designers, involving guidance and instruction on work methods and checking finished work.

Job Requirements

  • Technical school graduate with 10 or more years of related experience in area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Requires mature computer skills and a strong working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D & AutoPlant 3D drafting / modelling programs.

Reporting and Location:

  • This position is located in Edmonton, Alberta OR Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
  • Position reports to the Piping Department Manager.
