WorleyParsons Edmonton is currently seeking an Intermediate 3D AutoPlant Piping Designer for our Edmonton office.

This position involves design work at an intermediate working level requiring preparation and interpretation of complex topographical piping drawings. Requires working knowledge of, and interfaces with, other disciplines and their documents.


Responsibilities:

Drafting moderate to complex drawings, using 2D and 3D CADD which involves planning and layouts for major installations.
Conducting field visits and preparing as-built drawings and field sketches.
Assisting field forces during construction.
Assisting in more complicated elements as part of a project group.
Checking the work of, and assisting in the training of, less experienced design personnel.
Developing light to intermediate designs, layouts requiring theoretical and practical design knowledge in a specialized field.
Creating design in 3D AutoPlant models.
Extraction of design from AutoPlant 3D, and the use of AutoCAD as final deliverable format.
Drafting intelligent P&ID's and working with 3D models.
Initial understanding of project schedules, milestones, progressing and inter-discipline relationships.
Exercises judgment and discretion in the selection and organization of work methods and procedures.
Makes recommendations for improving drafting and design techniques.
Assures that work performed complies with the accuracy level and time constraints required for the project.
Works under direct supervision with scope for planning and organization of work methods on assigned projects.
Receives assignments in terms of specific objectives and priorities.
Work is reviewed for accuracy, completeness and accomplishment of objectives.
May receive supervised / self-training in more advanced discipline work practices / applications.
May exercise work direction over a small number of Junior Designers, involving guidance and instruction on work methods and checking finished work.
Job Requirements
Technical school graduate with four or more years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Mature computer skills and working knowledge of applicable 2D & 3D CAD drafting / modeling programs.

Reporting and Location:

This position is located in Edmonton, Alberta.
Position reports to the Piping Department Manager.
