PDS Rules for Better Living

PDS Rules for Better Living

The following information is designed as a reminder to become familiarized with the PDS command environment..

1. ALWAYS READ THE PROMPTS:

Accept/Reject prompt MEANS Use the data button in the view, not in the form, to accept the current choice or reject current choice with a reset button in the view.

Accept Or .... MEANS Use the “green check mark” to confirm or accept the current choice or Red ‘X’ to reject current choice.

2. CONNECT TO EQUIPMENT:

Tentative to nozzle with the tentative mouse button until the nozzle connect point highlights then use the data button on the mouse.

You can also connect to an equipment nozzle using a data button. You may need to select the reset on mouse until the correct connect point highlights, then accept this choice with a data button in the view. This is called a boresite location in the Intergraph PDS Reference Guides.

Note: To successfully connect to an equipment nozzle in piping, the equipment reference model must have the display, snap, and locate features active. To determine this, select the Reference model option on the File options palette and highlight the reference model from the list. Verify the display, snap and locate features are on.

3. CONNECT TO COMPONENTS:

Always connect to components with a Data on the mouse, select the reject on the mouse button in the view until the correct connect point highlights, then accept with a data on the mouse. Read the prompt for correct connect point information.

4. CONNECT TO SEGMENTS:

Tentative on the segments until the correct segment highlights and accept with a data on the mouse button. Read the prompt for correct connect point information.

MOVE TO EASTING ----- ABSOLUTE COORDINATE MOVE

MOVE EAST ----- DELTA MOVE RELATIVE TO CURRENT LOCATION

ALWAYS VERIFY AND SET ACTIVE SEGMENT PARAMETERS IMMEDIATELY AFTER CONNECTING TO DESIGN FOR PIPING AND EQUIPMENT.
